Bridal Outfits, Where Do I Start?

Wedding planning, so much to do, so much to think about.  Can I get a show of hands of the brides and grooms that are currently choosing their wedding day outfits by saving posts on Instagram and Pinterest? It’s the first place I go when I am looking for inspiration.

Are you contemplating taking a trip to India to find ‘the one’ or are you spending your time scrolling through Sabyasachi’s Instagram page for now? Aren’t they all just beautiful?!  How are you finding your search so far?

If anyone had said to me that as a bride you could get the help of a stylist, I would say ‘you’re kidding?!’ only celebrities have stylists!  I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this kind of service is available to brides and grooms – HURRAY. The right outfit has an incredible way of making us feel confident and all round fabulous, which is something I advise all of my clients to feel on their wedding day.  Whether that means you wear a pair of trainers under your dress/lengha or wear a new pair of Jimmy’s, you must wear what makes you feel amazing, it is your wedding day after all and all eyes will be on you.

Enter Sonal, I had the pleasure of meeting Sonal of Styled by Sonal at a networking event last year.  We finally had the opportunity to work together on my latest styled shoot in January too.  She is marvelous to work with, always radiating positivity.  Based in Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham, she explained how she works with her brides and grooms during their wedding planning.

The internet and magazines provide a platform for your search, but there are SO many options that it can get a little overwhelming sometimes. Sometimes it is nice to just visit a shop and physically try outfits on.  I don’t know about you but I prefer a shopping trip to online shopping, controversial I know! Although my dad and sister’s would disagree with the amount of Asos orders I ask them to keep an eye out for. What a lovely way to treat yourself during your wedding planning.

Anyway, I digress, the reason I wanted to write this blog is because I wanted to let all of my lovely followers know that this kind of service is available and that you shouldn’t have to feel stressed or worried about finding your perfect outfit for your special day.

With a keen eye for detail, Sonal provides advice on the latest fashion and jewellery trends, but will fine tune that with an entirely bespoke service for her couples in that she will want to know what your dress sense is like and want to ensure that your wedding day outfit is a true reflection of you.

Sonal goes much further than this by making recommendations on outfit shapes and styles based on your body shape, and your likes and dislikes by getting to know your personality too.  Most importantly, she will want to know how it is that you want to look on your wedding day.  Sonal doesn’t stop there, she will put together a moodboard which includes information about specific designers that will match your needs, and then explores complimentary styling tips such as:

  • Hair and makeup looks
  • Jewellery
  • Dupatta setting
  • Other accessories, such as shoes and bags

Sonal is also mindful of the client’s budget too, so will ask you about that to make certain that she is providing the relevant recommendations.  Usually, Sonal would advise a face to face consultation, which usually takes up to two hours, but with COVID-19 she provides these virtually via video call.

You can get in touch with Sonal via Instagram – Styled by Sonal.  If you need help finding the right suppliers for your wedding then please get in touch. I am here, ready to help you plan your dream day.
